Our Review:
The Nordictrack E5.7 elliptical is one of Nordictrack's most affordable crosstrainers. If you're on a budget, it's definitely one to consider.
While it doesn't carry all of the 'bells and whistles' as more advanced models, you do get a pretty impressive array of options.
For example you can choose from two different stride lengths - 18 or 20" (Stride is the furthest distance between the pedals). A longer stride will help you get a more complete workout as it works your leg muscles more fully.
You also get a 5 position incline on this model. Incline is not the same as resistance. Incline actually changes the angle of your elliptical pathway. The advantage to this is that you crosstrain different muscle groups and get a better overall workout.
The incline on this model is manual (you have to get off the machine to adjust it), and you can choose from 5 different ramp positions.
The Nordictrack e5.7 elliptical also comes iFit LIVE compatible. This is a feature that lets you connect your machine to the wireless in your home and download new workouts from celebrity trainers like Jillian Michaels as well as map out new routes on Googlemaps.
And to add a bit more fun, there's also a hookup for your iPod with console speakers. So you can play your favorite tunes while you workout.
Are there any drawbacks?
Well, as stated above, this is a simpler machine than the higher end models. The console window, while backlit and easily readable, is still on the smaller side.
Also be aware that you need an iFit module with this unit which is extra.
