Our Review:
The Smooth CE 3.6 elliptical is one of Smooth's more affordable crosstrainers. And while it doesn't have the higher end model bells and whistles, it does give you several popular features that Smooth does very well.
For example, you'll get a more comfortable ride with the ergonomic, pivoting footpedals. These help to support your hips, knees and ankles thoughout the elliptical motion and reduce the strain.
You also get a free wireless heart rate strap so that you can track your heart rate even when you're not using the hand grip pulse sensors.
The machine itself feels sturdy and stable, even when you pick up the pace. And a lot of users have commented on how smooth the motion feels.
The 3.6 elliptical also comes compatible with the MySmooth Virtual Fitness Trainer. This is basically a drive the records your fitness stats when you plug it into the console.
From there you can upload it to the Smooth website and track your workout stats, design and customize new workouts and set new goals.
Smooth has also added a built-in iPod docking station with console speakers to the new models. The console - while simple - is backlit and easy to read.
Another nice touch is the 3-speed fan which works remarkably well and is adjustable. So no matter your heart, you can stay cool.
Any drawbacks?
Surprisingly enought the Smooth CE 3.6 elliptical does not come with a water bottle holder. While it's a minor irritation, it does really bother some people. So you might want to pick up a cheap one to add to the machine yourself at your local Wal-mart.
